Delete your HomeKnows account
This page explains how to delete your account in the HomeKnows app (published by HomeKnows on Google Play and the App Store) and all the data stored with it. You can do it in the app or right here, without the app.
Paid plans
Deleting your account also cancels any active HomeKnows Plus or Pro subscription immediately, so you won't be billed again. You don't need to cancel it first.
Option 1: in the app
- Open HomeKnows and go to the Settings tab.
- Tap Delete account.
- Tap Delete to confirm.
Option 2: on this page
Sign in with the email and password you use in HomeKnows. Your account and data are deleted right away.
Can't sign in?
Reset your password with Forgot password? on the sign-in screen in the app, then use Option 1 or 2. If that doesn't work, see our Support page for how to reach us.
What is deleted
- Your account (email address and sign-in).
- Your homes and home details, including the address.
- Equipment, maintenance tasks, reminders, history and notes.
- All photos and documents you uploaded (receipts, warranties, manuals).
- Questions you asked and the answers, problem descriptions, reports you sent about AI answers, and your device's push notification token.
- Any active subscription is canceled.
These are removed from our live systems immediately when you confirm.
What is kept, and for how long
- Encrypted backups: database backups used for disaster recovery expire on their own within 35 days.
- Server logs: technical logs (which can include your account id) are deleted after 30 days.
- Payment records: if you ever paid, Stripe and we keep invoices and transaction records as required by tax and accounting law (typically up to 7 years). Card details are held by Stripe, never by us.
Deleting only some data
You don't have to delete your whole account to remove some data. You can delete any item (open the item, then Delete item), which also deletes its maintenance tasks, photos, documents and warranty. You can delete a single document on its own in Documents (Delete document); if that document added a warranty, the warranty is deleted with it. Your home, its timeline history, your questions and answers, and any photo attached to a problem report or diagnosis are deleted when you delete your account.
